The advanced PresStation master control switching and channel branding panel can control up to 200 HD/SD transmission channels. It combines exceptional ease of use with outstanding channel branding and video/audio mixing capabilities. PresStation can control multiple Imagestore HDTV and Imagestore 300+ SD branding processors, and can also control the Imagestore Intuition+ co-processor for advanced graphics playout.

EASY MULTI-CHANNEL CONTROL The PresStation panel is highlyintuitive, and is based on traditional master control design. All thecontrols requiring instant action have dedicated keys but set-up andmonitoring functions are presented by color displays, which providemonitoring of the core master control switcher functions from a singlescreen. Each functional area of the panels has an associated ‘hot’ key,which instantly presents the information relevant to that function onscreen. Up to 200 HD/SD automated channels can be controlled by one or morePresStation operators, although the panels are equally suited to manualand single transmission channel operation. As an operator switches between transmission channels, the input buseswill immediately reflect the sources relevant to the channel, alongwith the mixing and channel branding set-ups for the channel. The nexttransition to be performed by the automation will also be indicated onthe panels. The Miranda Kaleido-K2 multi-image display processor interface for thepanels simplifies multi-transmission channel monitoring by providingautomatic reconfiguration of the ‘virtual’ monitor wall when theswitcher operator selects another transmission channel. This ensuresthat the most appropriate configuration is instantly displayed for theoperator. VIDEO AND AUDIO MIXING The PresStation can be usedwith large external station routers shared among multiple channels, ora small external router dedicated to a single channel. Operators can‘scroll’ through up to 80 inputs of a large router, and 10 feeds can beaccessed and identified on the panels at any one time. Sources can bechanged quickly by operators, or grouped for specific programs, toensure fast and easy operation. The panel is operated on an ‘arm and take’ basis, allowing complexmulti-layer transitions combining mixing, keying, clip playout, DVEtransitions and voice-overs to be performed effectively. Switching canbe performed by cut, fade and wipe autotransitions, using ‘audio followvideo’ or independent audio mixing. Three mix transition rate pre-setsare fully adjustable. When mixing to a Preset source that requires pre-roll, the ‘Take’switch will not activate the transition until the specified pre-rolltime (once entered into the system). ‘Fade to black’ and ‘Fade tosilence’ transition controls are available. There is also full control of 16 channel audio mixing (embedded or AES)provided by the associated Imagestore 300+ and Imagestore HDTVprocessors. The voice-over characteristics, including ducking and output levels,are also fully controllable. Up to six hours of eight channel digitalaudio can be stored and played out per transmission channel with theEasyplay option. CHANNEL BRANDING GRAPHICS CONTROL The panels provide full controlof the powerful graphics capabilities of the Imagestore HDTV,Imagestore 300+ processor and Imagestore Intuition+ coprocessor. Thepanels can control animations and clocks, as well as dynamic and staticcharacter generation. Even complex, multi-layer graphics played out byImagestore Intuition+ can be controlled effectively. The panels' color displays can present the clips and channel brandingmedia in poly-photo format, for easy image browsing and loading, usingthe color screen controls. The images’ keying characteristics and thelayer transition rates can also be readily adjusted from the screen. The PresStation provides highly graphical control of the 3D/2D dual DVEcapabilities of the Imagestore 300 and Imagestore HDTV processors. Thisallows easy set-up and control of picture-in-picture transitions suchas ‘squeeze and reveals’ for credits presentation and news flashes. VIDEO AND AUDIO PREVIEWING The PresStation providesfull video and audio previewing. The preview output of the Imagestorescan show the end point of the next mix transition, along with a fullyanimated preview. Dedicated audio controls allow monitoring of the Program and Presetbuses, as well as the voice-over pre-fades. High resolution, full groupcolor audio metering bars are presented on the panels' color screens ina range of styles, including Full Scale, Semi-Pro, dBU18 and BBC PPMs. MONITORING AND OTHER CONTROLS The PresStation system provides highly effective status monitoring andalarming for the panel and associated control system and Imagestores,with on-screen warnings of error conditions. Remote monitoringinformation is also provided with the Imagestore EDH output option. MASTER CONTROL SYSTEM ARCHITECTURE PresStation features a robustand highly scalable architecture. In a multi-channel environment, oneor more panels are connected to one or more Presmaster Control Systemsto provide interfacing to the Imagestore HDTV / 300+ / Intuition+processors, the external router (s), the automation system and VTRs. Up to 50 Presmaster Control Systems can be linked to each PresStationpanel, providing control of up to 200 transmission channels (fourtransmission channels can be controlled by each Presmaster ControlSystem). High speed Ethernet is used for the control connections between thecontrol panels and the Presmaster Control System. A second, separateEthernet network is used for distributing the Imagestore 300+/HDTVmedia information to allow browsing. Each transmission channel has a separate RS422 control signal from theautomation system to a Presmaster Control System, and a dedicated RS422control signal from the Presmaster Control System to each Imagestore.RS422 links are also used for the router and VTR control. SD (with andwithout embedded audio), HD and AES sources can all be accommodatedwith the PresStation system. The Presmaster Control System sourcedatabase controls the association of video and audio signals, and alsoperforms router source naming. Typically, Imagestore program and preview outputs (video and audio) arefed back to the router infrastructure to simplify video and audiomonitoring, and to provide a bypass path. Two transmission channel Presmaster 2 system: one SDchannel with light branding provided by Imagestore 300+, and one HDchannel with complex branding provided by the Imagestore HDTV andImagestore Intuition+. ENTRY-LEVEL PRESSTATION SYSTEM An entry-levelPresStation/Presmaster 2 system comprises a PresStation/Presmaster 2panel, an Imagestore 300+/HDTV processor (HD processor needs dual inputmodule and network interface) with the digital audio mixer, and remotediagnostics modem options. This core system can be enhanced by adding multiple channel brandingoptions, including more powerful animation performance, a dual DVE,automated character generation, an in-vision clock/timer, andmulti-channel audio storage/playout. In multi-channel environments, an Imagestore 300+/HDTV processor isneeded for each transmission channel, and a Presmaster Control Systemis needed for each group of four channels.
